PENDLETON — The first Friends of Falls Park calendar — featuring 15 photos selected from public submissions — arrived earlier this week, in time to be available at Christmas in Pendleton on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Jo Scott, chairwoman of the Friends’ calendar committee, said more than 100 photos were submitted by the late-September deadline for consideration for the calendar.
All the photos in the calendar — one for each month, plus one on the front, back and an information page — were taken on Pendleton park property, which was a requirement to be considered.
The calendar includes the names of the photographers: Stacey Couch, Kate Edwards, Susan Fullen, Allan L. Howell, Kenny Humphrey, Joey Hustlar, Nancy Noel and Stacey Valentine.
Scott said the photos the group had to choose from were “wonderful,” and that with the quality of the calendar, “I’m pretty sure they’re going to sell.”
The hope is for the calendar to be an annual project, Scott said.
“We want to encourage people to think about taking photos right now,” she said, so they have them to submit next fall for the 2025 calendar.
The 2024 calendar costs $15 and will be available for purchase — cash, check or Venmo — at the Friends of Falls Park booth, located in front of Nellie Fayes, 121 N. Pendleton Ave., during Christmas in Pendleton.
Friends of Falls Park is a non-profit group that aims to help Pendleton Park Board preserve, improve and promote the park.
Its efforts impact various park-based service projects, such as the refurbishment of the Community Building patio.
