2024 Art Studies Show at Gallery 119

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s 2024 Art Studies Show runs through Jan. 31 at Gallery 119.

The show is for beginning and amateur artists presenting art done during any class or online instruction.

Judge for the show was Debbie Stapleton.

The show is sponsored by Dr. Ken Lau.

The gallery, 119 W. State St., Pendleton, is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

PAS also plans the following art classes:

Children’s Art Classes take place on the second Saturday each month. Each class is independent and will need its own registration.

The gallery’s regular hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Museum plans speaker series

PENDLETON — Pendleton Historical Museum will present a three-part Sunday Speaker Series, with talks planned for the next three months.

Feb. 11—The Quaker Community. Diane Herzog will speak on the history of Fall Creek Friends Church.

March 10—Remembrance Day. Author David Murphy will speak on the events surrounding the Indian massacre of 1824. Marla Fair, from the Johnston Farm and Indian Agency, will speak on the role of John Johnston, Indian Agent, played in the events.

April 14— The Parker House. Sandy Butler will speak on the history of this historic home located on the hill overlooking Pendleton.

Presentations will run from 2 to 4 p.m., with February and April’s talks taking place at the museum on Falls Park Drive, and the March presentation set for the Community Building in Falls Park.

Legion plans activities

PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, plans the following events — open to members and non-members:

Regular events include:

All-you-can-eat wing night — 5-8 p.m. Thursdays, with all-you-can-eat wings costing $12

Lunch specials (as well as regular menu) — starting at 11 a.m. weekdays

Treasure Hunt drawing takes place at 7:30 p.m. Fridays

Pool on Sunday — noon to 8 p.m., no charge

People interested in playing on a tournament euchre team or pool team should call or stop by the post and talk to Dave or Haley.

The Legion’s general membership meeting is set for 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month. Public is welcome.

Facility is smoke-free.
