PENDLETON — The Pendleton Heights defense keyed another big victory, this time against Penn Rugby 50-5.

The defensive tone was set early with what was the first of many Arabian takeaways that led to points.

Elijah Pimental swiped the ball from a Penn carrier and quickly got it to Elijah Arthur; he found Peyton Pollock who drew a defender and found center Nate DeRolf for a big gain. Two phases later Dresden Roberts found Isaac Wilson in the left corner for the score, and Nick Trout converted the kick to put the Arabians ahead early 7-0.

Later in the half, halfback Sam Rhea found DeRolf who found flyhalf Reese Reddington who eventually found Trout for a run inside the 22. Two phases later Arthur broke the line with a tough run, but the Penn defense forced a turnover. After one phase of attack from the goalline, the Arabians forced a Penn turnover, with Jacob McKinley scoring the try, and Trout adding another conversion.

Several good defensive plays by both squads led to scrums and back-and-forth gameplay. Defensive pressure by Arthur led to a penalty in front of the sticks that Trout slotted. The kick made it 17-0 with eight minutes remaining in the half.

A forward pass after the restart led to a Penn scrum before two DeRolf tackles forced Penn to kick. Following the kick, Roberts found a running Trout who found Reddington who hit a striking Rowley for the try. A successful conversion by Trout made things 24-0 at halftime.

To open the half, DeRolf and Garrett Pederson countered a ruck, Roberts picked the ball and ran in on goal, but was denied. Three phases at the goal led to a quick ball to Pollock who scored at the left upright. The conversion increased the score to 31-0.

The lone Penn score came early in the second half, but the kick failed.

Another DeRolf forced tackle later in the half pressured the Kingsmen, and two phases later Arthur stole a ball and sprinted into the center for a successful try. The conversion pushed the score to 43-5.

The scoring was capped off after Trout received the restart and found Nolan Souders. From the ruck, Dentel found Reddington who held the defense, and found Pollock on a 40-yard romp who found Kissick who found the speedster Rowley who cut in then out, and took it the remaining 40 yards.

Pendleton’s second side beat Penn 21-7, and the third side scored five tries in 30 minutes to cap off the day.
