Pendleton Garden Club conducted its Spring Plant and Bake Sale on Saturday. Mid-event, club Treasurer Marilyn Strange described the day so far as “good, very good,” with about half of the plants sold and baked good mostly gone.

Matt Ford, who was looking through names in the 1880 Census for Madison County, said his family has a long history in the area, with Ford Street in Lapel being named after his family.

PENDLETON — A number of events coincided with the farmers market in Pendleton on Saturday, including the opening of the Pendleton Historical Museum for its season, the Pendleton Garden Club’s annual Spring Plant and Bake Sale, and the Highway 38 Sale.
• The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays through the fall.
