LAPEL–The Lapel tennis team shut out their Anderson opponents in the first set of every match Wednesday, en route to an easy 5-0 win to start their season.

Lapel’s No. 1 singles player, senior Joseph Conrad, rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 win over Austin Mote, while sophomore Jesse McCurdy and senior Austin Lyons blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 to complete the sweep of the singles matches.

The Lapel doubles teams also won in overwhelming fashion. Senior Zach Krebs and junior Reid Ratzlaff defeated Matt Childs and Kevin Knight 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 doubles match while junior Ross Hagen and freshman Dawson Allen defeated Patrick Sawyer and Jon Faulkenburg by the same 6-0, 6-1 scores.

Lapel travels to Marion today for a possible regional preview match against the Giants.
