PENDLETON–In its first two matches, the Pendleton Heights tennis team has found success, not from the experienced singles players who return, but from an entirely new corps of doubles players. After Thursday, the doubles teams remain unbeaten and so do the Arabians.

Pendleton Heights defeated Hamilton Heights Thursday 3-2, behind a sweep of the doubles matches and a win from No. 2 singles player, Walker Stull.

Seth Moore and Jackson McKinney dominated in the No. 1 doubles match, defeating Zane Remsen and Nick Rice 6-1, 6-0, and Caleb King and Zach Nelson knocked off J.P. Etchison and Aiden Ray in the No. 2 match 6-2, 6-2.

The Arabians are now 2-0 and the doubles teams are 4-0, which has been somewhat surprising because last year’s doubles players all graduated. Coach Royce Hammel is happy with the results, but thinks they can get even better.

“They are two whole new teams,” he said. “There is a lot of room to improve, but I like what I’ve seen.”

Stull collected the final point for the Arabians with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Hudson Hochstedler in the No. 2 singles match.
