PENDLETON–For the second straight night, Pendleton Heights volleyball found themselves facing an early deficit. And for the second straight night, the young Arabians figured out a way to come back and take control.

This time, against a much more accomplished opponent.

Sophomore middle hitters Gracie King and Averi Lanman had 10 kills and three blocks each and sophomore setter Aubree Dwiggins dished out 25 assists as the Arabians knocked off the defending Madison County champion Madison-Grant Argylls 24-26, 25-20, 25-14, 25-15.

Pendleton Heights improved to 2-1 while the Argylls fell to 1-1.

Senior Brinkley Gary added nine kills, sophomore libero Ally Hall led the Arabians with seven digs, and senior Michelle Merryman received 20 serves and had 5 kills. Dwiggins, Lanman and junior Gracie Criswell led Pendleton Heights with five service aces each.

Pendleton Heights will play in the Covenant Christian Invitational, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
