Pendleton Heights top 10 percent

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School recognizes its academic top 10 percent. These students currently rank 11th through 19th. The Times-Post will publish mini-biographies of the students across several weeks, leading up to No. 1 on the final week.

Abigail DeFouw is currently ranked No. 19 with a grade-point average of 12.1667. She is the daughter of Deb and Troy DeFouw. Abbey is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, National Spanish Honor Society, Spanish Club, SADD, photography club, steering committee, prom committee, varsity swimming and PEA Rookie Program. She plans to attend the University of Indianapolis to major in either nursing or pre-physical therapy with a focus in exercise science. Abbey wants to become a nurse practitioner or a physical therapist.

McKenna Jule is currently ranked No. 18 with a GPA of 12.2083. She is the daughter of Bob and Kim Jule. McKenna is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, PHHS Swim Team, National Spanish Honor Society, student athletic committee and athletes of character. She is also a member of the Pendleton Swim Club and she teaches swim lessons. McKenna plans to attend Purdue University to major in pre-med/biology. She would like to be a sports medicine physician.

Spencer Ravage is currently ranked No. 17 with a GPA of 12.2653. He is the son of Eric and Kristi Ravage. Spencer is a member of National Honor Society, Unified Track and Field, Best Buddies, wrestling and German American Partnership Program (GAPP). He plans to attend Indiana University major in computer science. Spencer wants to work on programming related to Artificial Intelligence.

Sydra Parker is currently ranked No. 16 with a GPA of 12.2708. She is the daughter of Matt and Aimee Parker. Sydra is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, and the track and cross country teams. She plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana, where she plans to run track and cross country. Sydra would like to work in the science field, possibly geology or entomology.

Douglas Weinert is currently ranked No. 15 with a GPA of 12.3043. He is the son of Stefan and Sandra Weinert. Doug has participated each year in the JDRF One Walk, which raises funds for research on Type 1 diabetes. He has interest in photography and animation. He plans to attend Ball State University Honors College but is unsure on specific area of study. Doug is uncertain of his career choice, but he wants his occupation to be more than a job. It should be something he loves. So, for now, it’s an open path.

Aaron Candiano is currently ranked No. 14 with a GPA of 12.3542. He is the son of Tony and Pam Candiano. Aaron is a member of National Honor Society (president), National Beta Club (treasurer), National Spanish Honor Society, varsity football team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Madison County Athlete of Character, Student Athletic Council (president) and Arabian Allies. He enjoys lifting weights, fishing, hunting, playing with his dog, Ellie, being outdoors and watching superhero movies. Aaron plans to attend DePauw University to study business and play football. He is undecided on his career.

Arianna Francis is currently ranked No. 13 with a GPA of 12.4717. She is the daughter of Kuanh and Felicia Francis. Arianna is a member of the Pendleton Heights soccer team, show choir and French Club. She plans to attend Valparaiso University to major in psychology. Arianna hopes to become a mental health counselor.

Kylie Wolverton is currently ranked No. 12 with a GPA of 12.4792. She is the daughter of Randy and Jill Wolverton. Kylie is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, SADD, Spanish Club, varsity cheerleading squad, student council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She also volunteers at her church’s summer Adventure camp and likes to play with her animals, spend time with friends and work out. She plans to attend Trine University to major exercise science. Kylie hopes to become an athletic physical therapist.

Magnolia Harshman is currently ranked No. 11 with a GPA of 12.5306. She is the daughter of Randy and Shannon Harshman. Magnolia is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, National Spanish Honor Society, and Spanish Club. She also volunteers at Community Hospital-Anderson, takes EMT classes, and tutors elementary and middle school students. Magnolia enjoys cooking, reading and writing, singing and outdoor activities. She plans to attend Indiana University to major in biology and minor in Spanish and biochemistry or human biology. Magnolia would like to pursue a career in the medical field in neurology, cardiology or emergency medicine.
