Garden club get olive the facts

The Rural Garden Club of Lapel met April 11 at the home of Susan Tudor, with Jackie Stephenson as co-hostess. There were 14 members in attendance. Jackie Stephenson presented a lesson on the magic of olives. She described many types of olive oil, where olives grow and when olive trees were first established. Susan Tudor and Stephenson prepared appetizers using olives from Italy, France and Greece. Members were served pumpkin swirl cheesecake for refreshments. After the collect, object and bird pledge, roll call was answered with your favorite flowering tree. Redbud trees seemed to be most popular. May 7 was chosen to clean up the garden at North Park. The group’s next meeting is May 9 at the home of Cindy Selzer. People attending are asked to bring a canned fruit item for the food pantry.
