Pendleton Heights top 10 percent

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School each year recognizes its academic top 10 percent.

The Times-Post has published mini-biographies of this year’s students during the past several weeks.

This week’s group of students is the last one, comprised of those ranked in first through 10th place.

Natalie Taylor is currently ranked No. 10 with a grade-point average of 12.6. She is the daughter of Mike and Kim Taylor. Natalie is a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, SADD, Spanish Club, soccer team, basketball team, Character Counts, Best Buddies, Student Athletic Council, Arabian Allies, prom planning committee and steering committee. She has also served as class treasurer. She also enjoys ceramics and volunteering at church. Natalie plans to attend Ball State University, where she wants to double-major in nursing and Spanish. She wants to become a nurse practitioner and go on annual medical mission trips to developing countries.

Grace Baer is currently ranked No. 9 with a GPA of 12.6042. She is the daughter of Joseph and Julie Baer. Grace is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, track team and cross country team. She is also involved with her youth group and Adventure Camp. She plans to attend Purdue University to major in kinesiology and then attend medical school. Grace would like to be a trauma surgeon.

Sarah Dudley is currently ranked No. 8 with a GPA of 12.7234. She is the daughter of Mark and Christine Dudley. Sarah is a member of National Honor Society (treasurer), National Spanish Honor Society, cross country team, track and field team, swimming and diving teams, and Arabian Allies. She also plays the cello, babysits and crochets. Sarah plans to attend University of Mary in North Dakota to study communication sciences and disorders. She would like to be a speech language pathologist.

Samantha Davis is currently ranked No. 7 with a GPA of 12.7857. She is the daughter of James and Jackie Davis. Samantha has been a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Marching Band, Winter Guard, Wind Ensemble, Outdoor Adventure Club and the tennis team. She has also helped in her youth group, participated in inner-city mission week-long camps during the summer, and studied judo. Samantha plans to join Purdue University’s College of Engineering first-year engineering program, where she hopes to decide on the specific engineering discipline to pursue. Samantha also would like to begin her Officer Candidate School for the U.S. Marines, which occurs during summers. She hopes to become a professional engineer in the military, helping to design and generate projects that have a positive impact on communities, locally and across the globe.

Susan Kramer is currently ranked No. 6 with a GPA of 12.8125. She is the daughter of Kent and Jamei Kramer. Susie is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, French Club, National French Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), the girls tennis team, manager for boys tennis, student council, SADD, Arabian Allies and steering committee. She is also a member of Youth Leadership Association of Madison County and the Student Leadership Team of Madison Park Church of God. She is a Sunday school teacher at Madison Park Church of God. She also enjoys watching TV and movies, playing with puppies, and spending time with her friends and family. Susie plans to attend Butler University to study communication sciences and disorders. She hopes to become an audiologist.

Bailey Miles is currently ranked No. 5 with a GPA of 12.8936. She is the daughter of James and Rebecca Miles. Bailey has been a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, National Spanish Honor Society, Pendleton Players, International Thespian Honor Society and the academic team. She also enjoys photography, filmmaking, writing, dance classes and participating in her youth group. Bailey plans to attend Taylor University to major in Spanish education. She wants to become a Spanish teacher in high school.

Christina Magers is currently ranked No. 4 with a GPA of 12.9623. She is the daughter of Mike and Tamara Magers. Christina is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Spanish Club, National Spanish Honor Society, Anchors Away, Arabian Allies, cross country team, track and field team, Wind Ensemble and Pendleton Players (theater). She is also a member of Madison Park Church of God youth group and is a Holy Grounds Coffee volunteer. Christina plans to attend a private Christian institution where she will major in either international community development, environmental biology or Spanish. She wants to work for a nonprofit or government agency doing either development work or disaster relief work in devastated communities in the United States and abroad.

Michael Weddle is currently ranked No. 3 with a GPA of 13.1698. He is the son of Veronica Weddle and Richard (Lance) Weddle. Michael is a member of National Beta Club, National Honor Society, the math academic team, and bands — wind ensemble, marching band, jazz band, pep band, and the show choir band (Team Awesome). He also participates the Youth Leadership Academy of Madison County and is a Pendleton Community Public Library volunteer. Michael plans to attend Purdue University to study engineering. He hopes to become an engineer and work in aerospace for an organization such as NASA or SpaceX.

Andrew Jamison is currently ranked No. 2 with a GPA of 13.2545. He is the son of Don Jamison and Dana Bemish. Andrew is a member of National Beta Club, the football and wrestling teams, Best Buddies, Spanish Club and Arabian Allies. Although he is undecided on which college to attend, he wants to study pre-med to attend medical school. Andrew would like to become an orthopedic surgeon.

Kate Cowger is currently ranked No. 1 with a GPA of 13.4. She is the daughter of Patrick and Sally Cowger. Kate is a member of National Honor Society, National Beta Club, French Club, National French Honors society, the soccer and track and field teams, PEA Rookie program, Best Buddies, SADD and Quiz Bowl. She’s a volunteer at Pendleton Christian Church, Vacation Bible School, and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. She plays soccer for Indy Premier, indoor soccer, life guards and plays the piano. Kate will attend DePauw University and plans to double-major in neuroscience and biophysics. She hopes to attend IU Medical School. Kate plans to be a neurosurgeon and a physician scientist.
