Arabians make mark in Zionsville

PENDLETON — Running against 28 teams from around the state, the Pendleton Heights boys and girls track teams finished fifth and 10th, respectively, at the Zionsville Invitational.

On the boys side, Pendleton Heights finished with 72.5; Avon won the meet with 132 points, and Zionsville was second with 117.

The Arabians boys broke two school records.

Matt Sakeuh finished second in the 300 hurdles with a school record time of 39.61, breaking the record of 39.64 set by Jordan McCool in 2012.

Sakeuh, Luke Upton, Eli Pancol and Milan Jones finished the night with a school record-breaking 3:23.89 performance in the 4×400; the former record of 3:24.64 was set by Jason Bell, Dusty Shannon, Bill Coggins and David Mott in 1990.

Pendleton Heights’ girls scored 24 points; Brownsburg won the meet with 113 points, while Zionsville placed second with 110.

The girls Pendleton Heights High School Invitational took place Tuesday, April 24.

The Arabians finished a close second in the 10-team field, which included Lapel High School, which finished ninth with 10 points.

Yorktown High School won the invitational with 122.50 points, while the Arabians garnered 121 points.
