PENDLETON — Rick Brown recently announced his campaign for Madison County treasurer for the fall election.

Brown, chairman of the local Libertarian Party, said his experience as a former deputy treasurer and his political independence make him uniquely qualified for the office.

He announced his campaign via a video, highlighting a dedication to bold taxpayer reform and getting results despite partisan differences.

“We accomplished so much while I was in the office, but there is still more we can achieve,” Brown wrote in a press release. “I feel an obligation to the office and my community to offer my experience.”

Brown will be going up against Democrat Lisa Hobbs, a current at-large member of the Madison County Council, and Republican Dan Girt, who is making his first run for a public office.

Brown’s announcement video said he would continue his spirit of nonpartisan cooperation as treasurer, pledging to “rise above partisanship,” he said. “Taxpayers should be the primary concern of the treasurer, not a political party or personal agenda.”
