Arabians move onto regional with second place finished in the sectional

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights track and field finished in second place at its own sectional, Tuesday, May 15.

With the strong finish, the Arabians moved on to compete at the Ben Davis Regional set for Tuesday, May 22 (after press time).

At sectional, it was a good night for the Arabians, who grabbed 98 points; Lawrence North High School was first with 163 points.

Lapel also took part and finished 12th in the 13-team field with 7 points.

The Arabians had a few first-place finishes and several strong efforts.

In the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, Patience Sakeuh and Marisa Marshall shined. They placed first and second, respectively. Marshall placed first in the high jump with a 5’4” leap in the final, while Sakeuh took second place in the the long jump with a 15’6” effort.

In the 100 dash, Sarah Dix placed eighth, and in the 200, Anna Smith placed seventh.

Christina Magers placed second in the 1,600, while in the 400 run, Smith placed sixth and Kate Cowger placed seventh.

In the 800, Magers placed fourth, and in the 3,200, Syd Parker placed third.

The 4×800 relay team of Maddie McKee, Parker, Sarah Dudley, and Madison Brunnemer placed fourth.

The 4×100 relay team of Devyn Byars, Dix, Marshall and Sakeuh placed third.

The 4×400 relay team of Smith, Cowger, Dudley, and Magers placed third.

Lapel’s top finishers included Lauren Smith finishing fifth in the 3,200; Kara Lutz was eighth. Paige Rich finished seventh in the 800.
