Area golfer tests skills at Jr PGA Championship

WABASH — Some of the best young female golfers in the state gathered in mid-June at the Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash to take part in a girls Indiana Junior PGA Championship.

The Indiana Golf Foundation conducted the event, which enabled young female golfers to test their skills against other young golfers striving to be the best in Indiana.

A couple of Madison County golfers took a swing at the event to see where their golf games matched up.

The event attracted Danielle Tinsley of Pendleton. She teed off in a threesome with Hannah Godfrey of Wawaka, and Anna Munson of Auburn.

Macy Beeson of Lapel also took part. She was in a threesome with Dominique Colantuono of St. John, and Alissa Honigford of Indianapolis.

The groups, along with 84 other female golfers, played two full rounds to get a two-day total score.

Beeson finished tied for 59th with a two-round total of 179. She shot a 93 in the first round and an 86 in the second.

Tinsley finished tied for 81st with a two-round total of 195. She shot a 97 in the first round and a 98 in the second round.
