Track and field athletes celebrated

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights girls track and field members recently celebrated their season with a banquet, during which awards and honors were presented or recognized.

Varsity coach Sellers presented Marisa Marshall with the Most Valuable Player award. Marshall was regional high jump champion.

Sarah Dudley won the team Spirit Award.

Hoosier Heritage Conference academic awards went to Kate Cowger, Sarah Dudley, Christina Magers and Syd Parker.

HHC academic awards go to sophomores, juniors and seniors whose grade-point averages are in the top 5 percent of their High School Class.

All-conference honors went to Patience Sakeuh (hurdles) and Magers (1,600-meter run).

Syd Parker, Christina Magers and Kate Cowger were named academic all-state.

Academic all-state awards go to varsity juniors or seniors who earn a varsity letter and obtain a 3.7 GPA or higher. The awards come from the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.
