The team score total of 190 was 15 strokes higher than winner Heritage Christian’s final tally. Anderson’s team shot a 230.

“I think there were a few nervous girls for their first match of the season,” Arabians head coach Hilary Slick said. “We struggled tonight with some putting and also saw some tree trouble for a few girls.”

Overall, the coach said she was pleased with the team score.

“This is a better start to the season than we had last year,” she said. “So I am very excited to see what happens next.”

At Lapel’s first invitational, Kristen Hobbs was the match medalist among the nine teams with a low round of 80. Lauren Lutz was the second-best Bulldog with a 98, good enough for 17th place.

The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 388, putting them in fourth place.

Northridge finished first with a score of 360. Host Manchester placed second with a 369, and Lakeland was third with a 385.

At Farmland

The Arabians traveled to Farmland to play at Hickory Hills Golf Course in their first 18-hole tournament or the year Saturday, Aug. 4. They finished fourth of 11 teams at 379 with three strokes separating the Arabians from the second-place finisher.

Heritage Christian finished first with a 357, Muncie Central placed second with a 377 and Delta earned a 378, one shot better than Pendleton Heights.

Low medalist for the Arabians was Tinsley with an 86, followed by Wiggins, 95, Dawson, 97, Norris, 101, and McKenney, 105.

“I am very pleased with this first 18-hole match and look forward to what they will do in our next match,” Slick said.
