PENDLETON — The Pendleton Heights girls golf team captured the Hoosier Heritage Conference title Tuesday, Sept. 11, in a tie-breaker with New Palestine.

The Arabians and the Dragons each scored 181 as a team in the match at Fall Creek Golf Club. The scores also counted as the two teams’ dual match after rain pushed the conference event to Tuesday, day of the dual match.

The Arabians caught a little bit of a cooler breeze at Hawk’s Tail in Greenfield, where they took on Greenfield-Central High School in conference play Sept. 5.

It was a hard-fought conference match, with the Arabians getting the win via tie-breaker.

The Arabians tied the Cougars as both teams shot a team total 197, but Pendleton Heights picked up the win by using the fifth player as the tie-breaker.

Junior Danielle Tinsley was the medalist for the Arabians, posting a 46, followed by sophomore Ryann Norris with a 49. Freshman Grace Wiggins shot a 50, and freshman Kaylee McKenney and senior Courtney Dawson both shot 52s.

Kaitlynn Shamblin shot a 70, and Aubrey Fisher had her best round this season with a 54.

Coach Hilary Slick said Shamblin and Fisher are improving.

“Love the way they are coming along,” Slick said.

The week didn’t start off as well as the Arabians had hoped when they finished third in a three-way meet Sept. 4 with Lapel and Heritage Christian.

Heritage Christian had the best round of the night and shot 186 team total. Lapel High School placed second with 190, while Pendleton Heights finished with 198.

Dawson was medalist with a 47.
