INGALLS — Ingalls is gearing up for its second annual Ingalls Fall Festival, scheduled for 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22.

The event will take place at one of the town’s favorite gathering spots, Interurban Park, 238 W. Menden Road.

Interurban Park is designed to attract hundreds of people to the seven-acre facility overlooking Lick Creek.

The park has large trees for shade and a variety of recreational areas, with amenities including a half basketball court, picnic shelters, tables and playgrounds.

But there will be much more the night of the festival.

There will be live music throughout the event, free children’s games and a knocker-ball course provided by Fishers Knockerball, town manager Tim Millikan said.

Knockerball involves large inflatable spheres with inner handles and adjustable shoulder straps that people get into; they can then do rolls or flips or just bump into each other.

There also will be free face painting, balloon animals, food trucks, vendor booths and a bonfire.

The event was started last year to bring the community together and celebrate the end of summer during a festive fall evening.

Millikan, who said it’s possible the event will grow in the future, is the lone town official organizing and setting up this year’s event.

However, Chris Bradshaw, Ingalls Town Council president, suggested at a recent council gathering others might want to help next year.

Bradshaw would like to see a resident or business owner step forward and start a festival committee, so all the work doesn’t fall upon the town manager.

The council talked briefly about possibly re-establishing a park board that could handle the festival and other events, but no decisions were made.

Anyone wishing to volunteer and help Millikan set up and work on this year’s festival or take control of next year’s event is asked to call Millikan or any town council member at 317-485-4321.
