INDIANAPOLIS — Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity awarded Indiana State University undergraduate James “Jak” Kramer — a 2015 Pendleton Heights High School graduate — with the E. Allen James Outstanding Undergraduate Award, the fraternity’s highest honor at the undergraduate level.

Kramer served the Eta Upsilon Chapter as its president for two terms, helping it reach its goal of receiving its charter during his second term.

In addition to his service to his chapter, Kramer is an active member of the Student Government, Networks Professional Development Program and Presidential Scholars Association.

He helped the Eta Upsilon Chapter craft its first five-year plan for chapter success.

Kramer volunteers with American Red Cross, Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity and other local charities and organizations. He has also completed several summer internships and holds a job on campus at the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity.

“I am always pleased to review the accomplishments of our Outstanding Undergraduate Award recipient, and this year is no exception,” said E. Allen James, the award’s namesake. “Jak Kramer is a wonderful example of undergraduate achievement at the highest level.”

Kramer has maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9.

The E. Allen James Award was first presented in 1965, and is presented annually to the undergraduate member who has contributed the most to his chapter and the fraternity.

It is the highest award an undergraduate can achieve in Delta Sigma Phi and is named for former Executive Director E. Allen James, who contributed enormously to the success of the fraternity as an undergraduate.
