PENDLETON — Contractors involved in the Pendleton Heights High School Activity Center project are on site working on several jobs requiring adjustment of day-to-day operations in the school’s athletic department.

School leaders want students, teachers and parents to be aware of changes daily and be patient with the project, which may cause some inconveniences for many.

During the construction process, safety is the No. 1 priority and always will be chosen over convenience, athletic director Chad Smith said.

The school provided information to help students, staff, parents and the community reduce confusion.

Athletic parking: Fencing has been placed around a portion of the student lot on the north side of the building. The area is a construction zone and any traffic or parking is not allowed at any time.

Pickup and drop-off of athletes also will not be allowed in this area.

For athletic event parking, athletes and patrons should plan to park in the permitted areas of the student lot on the north side of the building, the new lot next to the tennis courts (old band lot), or the new parking addition on the south side of the building (current band lot).

For athletic events, athletes should be dropped off and picked up on the east side of the building along the sidewalk next to the football stadium. Athletes can enter/exit the building at Doors 4N and 5E. Door 4N is the current athletic entrance and will remain open for now. Athletes should walk on the sidewalk that is surrounded by fencing. Door 5E will not be affected by the construction.

Athletic teams will be picked up at Door 5E by the team bus driver. Drivers will drop the teams off at Door 5E upon returning from contests.
