Gallery reception set for Friday

PENDLETON — A reception for the Penldeton Artists Society’s Fall Show is set for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Gallery 119.

The reception is open to the public.

Painter Rodney Reveal will be judge for the show and will announce winners during the reception.

Reveal is a Noblesville native who studied art at the California College of Arts in Oakland and Herron School of Art in Indianapolis. He is an artist and painting instructor and retired as a full-time firefighter after 30 years.

His art work is represented in several galleries in Indiana. Many of his watercolors and oils are in private and permanent collections nationally and abroad.

The Fall Show will be on display through October at the gallery, 119 W. State St., Pendleton. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Local blood donor clinics set

SOUTH MADISON COUNTY — The following Red Cross blood donation opportunities are scheduled:

• 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at Lapel High School, 1850 S. County Road 900W

Pendleton

• 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at Fall Creek Christian Church, 1102 W. County Road 700S

Show choir plans variety of tunes

LAPEL — The Lapel Show Choir will present its annual fall show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the high school auditorium.

Also performing that night will be the High School Choir and the Girls Ensemble.

The hour-long concert will include selections from musicals, such as “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin, “You’ll Be Back” from “Hamilton,” a medley of songs from “Mamma Mia,” and “Nine to Five” from the musical of the same name.

Current pop music will be represented by “Feel It Still,” “Believer” and “Count on Me.” There will even be a bit of country with songs such as “Humble and Kind.”

Ballads from various eras will round out the show, and crazy choreography will accompany the High School Choir’s rendition of “Witch Doctor.”

The show will end with a patriotic salute. Lapel Show Choir alumnus Scott Cecil will sing “God Bless America,” and the high school choirs will join with Lapel church choirs to sing “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”

Jeannine Terhune is the choir director; Damon Brown and Ron Morgan are the choreographers.

Adult admission is $5, and student admission is $3. Show choir sponsors will be admitted free when they present their passes.

Historical society to talk cars, trains ANDERSON — Madison County Historical Society will present information on street cars and interurbans during its First Sunday presentation at 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Museum of Madison County History, 11 W. 11th St., Anderson.

The talk will run about an hour.

Visitors can also tour the train exhibit on the lower level after the presentation.

The Madison County Historical Society Inc. is located at 11 W. 11th St., Anderson. There is no entry fee at the facility.

Christian Women’s Fellowship meal set MARKLEVILLE — The Christian Women’s Fellowship (C.W.F.) “Comfort Keepers” of the East Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Markleville plans its monthly “God Abundance Meal” for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the lower fellowship hall of the church.

The menu includes chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, rolls, assorted desserts and drink with a free-will offering accepted.

East Christian Church is located at 124 E. Main St. (State Road 38) in Markleville and is accessible to people with disabilities.

Carry-out will be available. Shut-ins and small businesses in the immediate area can have carry-out delivered by calling the church at 765-533-4996 the day of the meal or Diane at 765-533-2330.
