MADISON COUNTY — A Chesterfield woman was killed and three children taken to the hospital in serious condition after a single-vehicle car accident near Pendleton on Monday.
Madison County Sheriff’s Department was called to investigate the crash on State Road 38 east of State Road 13 at about 9 p.m.
Victoria Hensen, 28, of Chesterfield was taken to Community North Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Sheriff Scott Mellinger said.
The children, the only other people in the vehicle, were taken to Riley Children’s Hospital and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, where they are recovering from serious injuries.
According to the sheriff’s department, it appears the vehicle was traveling west before it left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The accident was under investigation at press time.
