PENDLETON — The Town of Pendleton Bicentennial Committee wants you! Or, at least your photos and information relating to the town’s past and present.

In preparation for the town’s bicentennial celebrations in 2020, the group is assembling a full-color 9-by-12-inch hardbound book with at least 96 pages of local content on glossy, acid-free paper.

It will be called “A Celebration of Pendleton: 1820-2020 — Then and Now.”

“We’re looking for everything from the past, when the town was formed … to what it looks like now,” said Jessica Smith, who is helping lead the book project with M.T. Publishing Co. Inc.

The committee wants pictures of and information related to agriculture, buildings, businesses, churches, local events, schools, transportation, and legends and lore.

Smith, who is also a town council member, encouraged everyone with photographs or stories to share to do so, no matter how significant they think it might or might not be. All submitted materials will be returned.

“It’s always better to have more information than less information,” Smith said.

The book also will have a patron section, which will be available for a charge to Pendleton businesses, churches, families and organizations. Those who purchase a page or half-page will be able to submit photos along with a written history.

The deadline for submitting information for the book, including patron page information, as well as for pre-orders for the book, which costs $39.95, is Nov. 30.

People can order the book at mtpublishing.com (enter “Pendleton” in the search field). A digital version is available for $9.95.
