Garden club shares meal and stories, makes plans

LAPEL — Eleven members of the Lapel Rural Garden Club of Indiana met for lunch Nov. 14 at the home of Jayne Seybert. Two kinds of homemade soup were offered, along with dessert made by the co-host, Charlene Hummel.

After lunch, the meeting was called to order by President Jayne Seybert. After reading of the Collect and the Bird Pledge, roll call was answered by telling of family Thanksgiving traditions.

It was decided the group would meet at the park on Saturday, Nov. 17, to install Christmas decorations.

It was also decided that the group’s gift exchange would have a Christmas sock theme.

Gifts are also given to Women’s Alternatives and the Lapel food bank.

After a lesson by Seybert on how to make poinsettias bloom the second year, the garden tip, given by Kitty Myers, was on cleaning tools so they would be ready for spring.

A Dec. 12 Christmas meeting is planned for the home of Bev Chase, with Myers as co-hostess.
