PENDLETON — With the season of giving upon us, students with the Pendleton Heights High School radio station WEEM-FM are getting into the Christmas spirit and looking to provide holiday cheer through programming.

WEEM-FM plans to present 36 hours of Christmas programming starting at noon Dec. 24 and continuing through Dec. 25, but it needs community sponsorship.

Not only do students want their radio station to be the local station of choice on Christmas, but the proceeds from the programming will benefit a local organization.

Any funds raised will sponsor a family through Secret Families of Madison County, with a matching donation from WEEM’s Arabians Care Fund, meaning two families will be supported.

To support the charitable effort, the radio station is offering sponsorship of the Christmas show for $75.

Organizations and businesses who participate will get their money’s worth, said Chris Green, WEEM general manager.

Program sponsorship perks include two hours of dedication from the radio station, one prime and one non-prime.

The deal also includes two hours of programming on WEEM with no other sponsors or underwriters in the hour, with eight announcements total. Each hour will contain four announcements for a business or organization.

Also included are 100 live and recorded announcements promoting the special programming throughout December, plus the business or organization will be included in weekly social media promotion of the programming.

Students also will add area business and organization logos to the WEEM website so everyone can see they’re supporting the program.

The radio station is also offering a $25 discount on each additional set of hours businesses or organizations would like to sponsor.
