PENDLETON — People are invited to demonstrate their artistic skills while working on projects, or just show up to talk art, during a weekly meeting at Pendleton’s Gallery 119, home of the Pendleton Artists Society.

“We like to help each other and offer critique — if people would like to have a real critique of their work,” said the art group’s Sharon Robinson.

The group meets at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays and is meant for all levels of artists, from beginner to expert. It’s an opportunity for artists to bring their supplies and work on their latest creation or to share stories, get ideas and help others become better artists.

Nearly a dozen local artists attend the meetings regularly, but organizers would like to see the group grow.

“We want people to come. Even if they don’t have any artwork to work on, they can just come and chit-chat about art,” Robinson said.

Many of the art society’s art teachers attend the meeting and are there to help and provide guidance.

It’s always a good idea to share artistic views and ideas with like-minded people, Robinson said.

The weekly classes are open to anyone 18 and older and usually run a couple of hours.

Gallery 119 is located at 119 W. State St., Pendleton.
