Pendleton girls prepping for conference show down

PENDLETON — It’s a big week of basketball for Arabians’ girls basketball.

Pendleton Heights was set to face Hamilton Heights (5-3) on Wednesday, Nov. 28 (after press time) and then Mt. Vernon (6-1, 0-0 Hoosier Heritage Conference) in a conference showdown on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The home game against Hamilton Heights game was not over by press time, and the Mt. Vernon game, also at home, is set for 1:30 p.m.

The Arabians (6-1, 4-0) downed conference foe Shelbyville (1-4, 0-1) by a 76-41 score on Friday, Nov. 23.

The Arabians moved the ball around well and created scoring opportunities for their teammates.

Pendleton Heights was led in scoring by Kailyn Graham with 24 points and Aubree Dwiggins with 16 points. Megan Mills added 15 points, and Kylie Davis had 9 points.

Lapel

The Lapel girls hoops team (5-1) won a hard fought, tough road game at Alexandria Wednesday, Nov. 21, giving Lapel its fifth win in a row.

Two players led Lapel with double-doubles.

Makynlee Taylor was the big scorer and had 18 points while also pulling down 10 rebounds. Delaney Peoples got 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Morgan Knepp got 11 points and four steals. Lily Daniels came off the bench to score 9 points and get four rebounds. She also had two steals.

Lapel was set to return to the court on the road at Yorktown Tuesday, Nov. 27 (results not available by press time.) The Lady Bulldogs will be in action again when they host Madison Grant at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4.
