PHHS choirs present Yuletide Celebration

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School choirs will perform their Yuletide Celebration at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 13, in the school auditorium.

There will be performances by all choirs — Accents, Added Attraction, Vocal Fusion, New Edition, Emerald Suites and Pendletones.

The show will include classic and new holiday songs.

Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors; children 3 and younger are admitted free. Tickets are available at pendletonplayers.com.

Choir students also plan a holiday gift wrap fundraiser for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 15. Students will wrap gifts free of charge, but donations will be accepted. For more details, call 765-606-4882 or email PendletonHeights [email protected].

Students to Europe dinner postponed

LAPEL — Students to Europe 2019 plans a chili dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Lapel High School commons area.

It was set for Dec. 14, but the basketball game against Beech Grove has been postponed to February.

Adult meal ticket price is $7, and the student ticket price is $3.

This price includes chili with fixings, a hotdog and a drink. Desserts will also be available to purchase for $1.50.

This meal will take place before the Beech Grove boys basketball game.

People can purchase tickets in advance from any of the participating juniors at Lapel High School. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Profits from the fundraiser will help students pay for their trip to Europe in fall 2019.

Choir to ‘Sing and Shout’ in cantata

LAPEL — Trinity United Methodist Chancel Choir in Lapel will present its annual cantata at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, in the sanctuary.

“Sing and Shout For Joy” is the title of this show filled with joyous music as well as quiet, reflective songs.

The musical includes favorite Christmas carols, praise choruses and some new songs.

The songs are connected by a narrative designed to renew and refresh the spirit of Christmas.

The musical is directed by Jeannine Terhune.

Accompanying the cantata will be Trinity’s regular accompanists: Rhonda Kuntz and Jim Hostetler, who will be joined by a small orchestra.

Special guests will be a children’s choir from the Trinity preschool.

The presentation will conclude with a candle lighting service.

Artists group offers painting classes, show

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society plans art classes regularly at Gallery 119 in Pendleton:

• Coffee and Paint with Diane Burrell — 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 14.

Participants will be encouraged to paint in their own style in acrylics. All level of painters are welcome.

Paints and brushes will be available for $10 per week for those who do not have their own. The cost is $15 per session.

• Acrylic pour class with Brenda Jarrett — 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 16. Jarrett will teach how to do flip and drag pours with added techniques to make an 11-by-14-inch acrylic pour artwork. Supplies will be provided. For ages 12 and older. Class fee is $35.

• Watercolor Class with Judy Crist — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 19 (with a break for lunch). Painting will be of a girl walking in the rain. Class will teach several techniques and how supplies are used. Class fee is $50 (supplies not included). Supply list may be found online at pendletonartistssociety.org or by contacting the gallery.

The gallery is located at 119 W. State St.

• Juried art show entries on display — The Pendleton Artists Society’s sixth annual juried art show opened Dec. 7.

The exhibit will close on Jan. 2. The gallery will be closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 1.

Red Cross blood clinic approaching soon

PENDLETON — An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for 2 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Fall Creek Christian Church, 1102 W. County Road 700S.

People who donate blood or platelets through Dec. 19 will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card via email. (Restrictions apply; see amazon.com/gc-legal. More information and details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/Together.)
