AMVETS breakfast Saturday

PENDLETON — AMVETS Post 26 plans an all-you-can-eat breakfast for 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the post, 939 S. Broadway, Pendleton.

There will be biscuits and gravy, hash browns, french toast, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs or eggs to order, and coffee, milk or juice.

The cost is $8 per person.

The building is a smoking facility; no one under age 18 is allowed inside.

Musuem annual meeting Monday

PENDLETON — Pendleton Historical Museum’s annual board meeting is set for 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the museum, 299 Falls Park Drive.

Election of new officers is planned.

The meeting is open to the public.

Gallery offers art class, show

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society plans art classes regularly at Gallery 119 in Pendleton:

• Annual Art Class Show begins Jan. 4 — The show will feature art created by students from various art classes held at Gallery 119 in 2018. The public is invited to our First Friday reception planned for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 4. There will be a chance to meet the artists, teachers and check out future classes offered. People also will be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award. Judge Stephanie Cochran will award first- through third-place awards, and possible honorable mentions. The show runs through January during regular gallery hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

• Oil painting with Katy Burke — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9. The painting will a winter scene with trees, moon and two cardinals. The class is for all levels of painter. There will be a break for lunch. The cost for the class, with all supplies included, is $55. For those who use their own paints and brushes, the cost is $45.

The gallery is located at 119 W. State St.

People can register during regular gallery hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, or by phone at 765-778-0986.

Students to Europe dinner postponed

LAPEL — Students to Europe 2019 plans a chili dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Lapel High School commons area.

It was set for Dec. 14, but the basketball game against Beech Grove has been postponed to February.

Adult meal ticket price is $7, and the student ticket price is $3.

This price includes chili with fixings, a hotdog and a drink. Desserts will also be available to purchase for $1.50.

This meal will take place before the Beech Grove boys basketball game.

People can purchase tickets in advance from any of the participating juniors at Lapel High School.

Tickets will also be available at the door.

Profits from the fundraiser will help students pay for their trip to Europe in fall 2019.

Pendleton Swim Club offers lessons

PENDLETON — Pendleton Swim Club plans its second session of swim lessons for this season, scheduled on six Saturdays beginning Jan. 12.

Group continues collecting photos, information

PENDLETON — The Town of Pendleton Bicentennial Committee is accepting photos and information relating to the town’s past and present for a coffee table book called “A Celebration of Pendleton: 1820-2020 — Then and Now.”

The hardbound book will be full-color, measure 9-by-12-inches and have at least 96 pages of local content on glossy, acid-free paper.

The committee wants pictures of and information related to agriculture, buildings, businesses, churches, local events, schools, transportation, and legends and lore.

The book also will have a patron section, which will be available for a charge to Pendleton businesses, churches, families and organizations. Those who purchase a page or half-page will be able to submit photos along with a written history.

 All submitted materials will be returned.

The book will cost $39.95. People can order it at mtpublishing.com (enter “Pendleton” in the search field). A digital version is available for $9.95.
