Arabians face Red Devils at sectional

PENDLETON — With the regular season ending Feb. 19, sectional season starts for the Arabian basketball team Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Richmond.

Pendleton Heights — which had a 7-15 record before facing North Central on Tuesday, Feb. 19 (after press time) — takes on the host Richmond in the second game of the night, and the winner will take on Mt. Vernon on March 1.

The Arabians have struggled this season, but several of their losses were games coach Kevin Bates said they were in but just unable to finish with a win.

Richmond faces Franklin County Feb. 21 but goes into the game with a 10-13 record.

For the Red Devils, Lucas Kroft has averaged a little more than 20 points per game through 19 games. Joining Kroft is younger brother Andrew, who is averaging more than 15 points per game.

The Arabians and Red Devils are a close match in the stats. Both teams are averaging just under 55 points, 11 turnovers and 15 fouls per game. The Arabians carry a slight advantage on the boards, with Pendleton at more than 21 rebounds per game and Richmond with 19.

With Damieon Warrum back from injury, the Arabians will have their top scorer in the lineup. Warrum is averaging more than 13 points per game.

Christian Jones, who averages more than 10 points per game, will add more offensive power for the Arabians.

Tristan Ross is another Arabian on the floor who can add points to the total, along with Davrick Black.

The Arabians fell to host New Castle 64-40 on Feb. 12. Warrum led the Arabians with 15 points, while Black added 14.
