PENDLETON — The 2019 South Madison Visual Art Show for Fall Creek, Stony Creek, Adams and Green townships is scheduled for Sept. 6 to Oct. 2 at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.

A public reception is planned for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the gallery, 119 W. State St. There will be hors d’oeuvres, and people will have a chance to view the show and meet artists.

Deborah Stapleton, director of Anderson Museum of Art (formerly Anderson Fine Arts Center), will be judge of the show.

Stapleton has been active on the boards and as a conference speaker with the Association of Midwest Museums and Association of Indiana Museums. She also has served on panels with the Art Museum Director’s Forum in New York City and the American Alliance of Museums.

She has been a grant adjudicator for Indiana Arts Commission, curated several shows and juried or judged many exhibitions in Indiana.

During her tenure in Anderson, the center has conducted more than 180 competitive exhibitions and shown more than 50,000 works of art.

South Madison Visual Art Show is made possible through South Madison Community Foundation Arts Fund.

The fund was established by the children of Robert E. and Vinetta A. Wills, in honor of their mother Vinetta Aiman Wills.

The purpose of the fund is to recognize people with artistic talent through monetary reward and public recognition. Prize money for this show is $250 for Best in Show, $150 for Second Place and $100 for People’s Choice.
