Lifeguard certification at high school

PENDLETON — Registration to receive American Red Cross lifeguard certification, which includes certification in CPR, AED and first aid, can be obtained by completing the four-day training session sponsored by Pendleton Swim Club (PSC).

Those interested must be at least 15 and a proficient swimmer.

The classes will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pendleton Heights High School on Sept. 21, 22, 28 and 29.

For those requiring re-certification to keep credentials active, this will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 29.

The cost for full certification is $275, and the cost for re-certification is $75.

Many of these certified lifeguards have been employed at local public and private pools in the summer as well as throughout the year.
