Art classes planned at Gallery 119

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society offers art classes at Gallery 119, 119 W. State St. in Pendleton.

Oil Painting with Gini — 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14. Participants will get to paint an old barn and red truck with Gini Deaton. They will learn about shapes, values and colors, as well as a wet-into-wet method called alla prima. There will be a break for lunch. All supplies will be included in the $60 class fee. All levels of painters are welcome.

Begining Watercolor Class with Judy Crist — 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15. Participants in this beginner class will paint a red bird. Class fee is $35, with all supplies provided to complete a painting.

Jewelry Class with Tracy Davidson — 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 22. Davidson will teach participants to make components of jewelry by hand out of sterling, copper and jewelers gold. Fee for the beginner class is $50 and includes all supplies and tools.

Master Gardeners plan workshop

ANDERSON — Madison County Master Gardeners are sponsors of a spring gardening workshop set for 10:30 to 3 p.m. March 14 at Anderson Public Library, 111 E. 12th St., Anderson.

There will be six 30-minute classes offered in an open format; people can attend whatever classes they want.

Classes are: 10:30 a.m. — How to Prepare Your Garden for 2020 with Kay Marcuson; 11:15 a.m. — Seed Propogation Using Lights with Melanie Lucroy; 12:15 a.m. — Raised Bed Gardening with Lisa Oakes; 1 p.m. — Successful Tomatoes with Milt Otto; 1:45 p.m. — Native Plants with Loretta Heinger; and 2:30 p.m. — Invasive Plants with Terry Chandler.

Classes take place in the third-floor Cardinal Room, and there is no charge to attend.

Markleville church plans comedy night

MARKLEVILLE — North Christian Church, 32 N. State St., Markleville, plans a family-friendly comedy night for 6 p.m. Saturday, March 14.

Admission costs $10 per person.

Real estate office offers shredding

PENDLETON — RE/MAX Legacy, 6692 S. State Road 67, plans a complimentary shred day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 28.

Shredding will be done by a professional company.

Homemakers offer tasting event

ALEXANDRIA — Madison County Extension Homemakers plans the annual International Tasting Tour from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Madison County 4-H Farm Bureau Building in Alexandria.

Homemakers will feature foods and educational highlights from a variety of countries, including Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Switzerland and the United States.

There is no admission charge for this come-and-go event. Donations are welcome.

A booklet of International recipes will be provided.

Beverages will be available for a fee.

Pendleton business offers Shred Day

PENDLETON — SecurEstate plans its its ninth annual Shred Day from 9 to 11 a.m. April 18.

Shred Day, which offers free and secure onsite shredding, is open to the public.

There is no limit on the amount of paper people can bring, and all paper is shredded onsite while people watch.

This is a drive-thru dropoff service; people are asked to enter the parking lot off Main Street.

SecurEstate is located at 100 S. Main St., Pendleton.
