Lapel Lions conduct fruit sale

LAPEL — Lapel Lions Club is taking orders for fresh citrus fruit from Florida.

The cost of a 20-pound (2/5 of a bushel) box of navel oranges or red grapefruit is $30. A 40-pound (4/5 of a bushel) of each is $40.

To order or for more details, call Karen Roudebush (765-617-2300) or contact any Lapel Lions Club member. Orders must be placed by Friday, Nov. 13.

Fruit will be available for pickup from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Lions Building, 329 S. Main St., Lapel.

Halloween events on tap in Markleville

MARKLEVILLE — Markleville Park Trunk or Treat is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Markleville Community Park.

The public is invited to decorate its car trunks, line up while social distancing and safely hand out candy. Gloves will be available near the stage.

A bean bag toss contest is set for 5 p.m., with the cost $5 per person.

Grand prize is a souvenir signed Colts football, and proceeds benefit the park fund.

A costume contest is planned for 7 p.m.

Age groups are 6 and younger, 7 to 12, and 13 and older.

First-, second- and third-place awards will be presented in the following categories: Funniest, scariest and most original.

Art of Fine Dining raffle tickets on sale

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society at Gallery 119 is selling raffle tickets for The Art of Fine Dining.

Raffle tickets cost $10 each or three for $25.

The drawing will take place at the society’s First Friday event at 7 p.m. Dec. 4.

The winner will receive more than $500 worth of gift certificates from the following restaurants: The Bank, Texas Roadhouse, Anita’s Kitchen, Riviera Maya, Ruby Tuesdays, Applebee’s, Hacienda Vieja, Madison’s St8 Street Bistro, Catello’s, Moontown, Wolfe’s and Vera Mae’s.

Raffle tickets may be purchased at the gallery, 119 W. State St., Pendleton, or from PAS members.

Raffle proceeds will help PAS defray losses incurred during the pandemic.

Museum returns to pandemic mode

ANDERSON — Museum of Madison County History, operated by Madison County Historical Society, has returned to its doors-locked, call-for-a-tour pandemic protocol.

During visits, face masks must be worn, temperatures will be taken, and social distancing and frequent hand sanitizing will be encouraged.

People feeling sick are asked to stay home.

The museum features an exhibit titled “WW II County Heroes and Home Front” and a new permanent display of “Native Americans of Madison County.”

The museum is located at 15 W. 11th St., Anderson.
