Lions club shows how it puts its motto into action

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Lions Club June Jamboree is set to go again this year after a COVID-19-induced cancellation last year.

It’s just one of many efforts Pendleton Lions Club members lead each year in the name of community service (Lions Club motto: We Serve).

“When caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing — and an incredible feeling for everyone involved,” Lions President Betty Weist wrote in preparation for this year’s June Jamboree special section (inside this week’s Times-Post).

“Being a Lion is about leading by example, building relationships and improving the world through kindness,” Weist said.

The June Jamboree special section includes a preview story about the jamboree, but it also includes a collection of pieces written by Lions Club members, explaining in their own words what the club does in — and for — Pendleton.
