Pendleton Heights Class of ‘22 Top 10%, Take 3

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High School recognizes the Top 10 Percent of its graduating class each year.

There are 35 students in that group for the Class of 2022. The countdown continues this week with Nos. 21 to 15. It will continue through several editions of The Times-Post.

Ryland Mills is currently ranked No. 21 with a GPA of 12.2593. He is the son of Rhonda and Ron Mills and the brother of Roland Mills. Ryland has participated in Unified Track, Best Buddies, Peer Tutoring, SADD, Beta, National Honor Society, Arabian Allies, Tennis, and Pendleton Players Crew. He is very passionate about volunteering for organizations that are geared to serving individuals with special needs as well as helping to inform his peers to understand what the words “inclusion” and “unified” can truly mean. Ryland would like to double major in Special Education and Educational Psychology at Purdue or Ball State. He would love to be a Special Education teacher.

William Phillips is currently ranked No. 20 with a GPA of 12.3214. He is the son of Kendra and Ryan Phillips. He has played on the Soccer team and has been a member of Beta. William will attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He would like to design parts for machines.

Delaney Busby is currently ranked No. 19 with a GPA of 12.3478. She is the daughter of Deanna Matthews (Duane Matthews) and Lance Busby (Elisabeth Busby). Delaney has been a member of the cross country and track team as well as a Spanish Club member. She is currently enlisted in the Army National Guard. She will do Advanced Individual Training for five months after graduation and then study trauma nursing. Delaney’s goal is to be a flight nurse.

Ethan Ross is currently ranked No. 18 with a GPA of 12.449. He is the son of Michelle and Joe Ross. Ethan is a student-athlete participating in Football, Basketball, Track, Golf, National Honor Society, Beta and he is a Student Athlete of Character. He enjoys fishing and playing spikeball. Although he has not decided on which college, Ethan intends to study mechanical engineering and wants to work in the automotive field.

Stella Schellenberger is currently ranked No. 17 with a GPA of 12.4902. She is the daughter of Jill and James Schellenberger. Stella has been involved in the Marching Arabians, Team Awesome, Pep Band and Beta. She plans on double-majoring in English and Public Writing and minoring in Spanish. Stella would like to attend Purdue University and later earn a Master’s Degree in Library Science. With this, she hopes to work as a copy editor and become a librarian.

Kieli Ryan is currently ranked No. 16 with a GPA of 12.5185. She is the daughter of Betty and Larry Ryan. She has played soccer and softball. She has also been a member of Best Buddies, Beta, National Honor Society, and Student Athletic Council. Kieli enjoys reading, painting, attending Youth Group, and hanging out with friends. She will attend Butler University and study Accounting and minor in German. Kieli would like to work as a Certified Public Accountant.

Tessa Phillips is currently ranked No. 15 with a GPA of 12.5208. She is the daughter of Kirstin and Russ Phillips. She has participated in Volleyball, Unified Track, Best Buddies, National Honor Society Council, Beta Club, Spanish Club, and Arabian Allies. Her final decision on which college she is attending has not yet been finalized, however, she will focus in the Exploratory Studies area. Tessa hopes to work in a career field that she is passionate about that helps others, too.
