A dozen students participating in the Pendleton Heights Senior Art Show recently received recognition at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.
Sylvia Bobb won first place and $500 for “16 Mirrors,” an acrylic piece.
Paige Cesnick won second place ($200) for her watercolor “Riley,” while Katie Green won third ($100) for her colored pencil piece “Obsession.”
Rachel Allen was the judge for the show. Allen has a bachelor’s degree in art from Asbury University, has worked as a professional photographer, and has explored and taught a variety of arts and crafts in various venues, including Gallery 119.
She presented Honorable Mention awards to Kim Canaday for “Take Two A Day Keeps The Anxiety Away”; Katie Green for “Celestial Planisphere”; Jaedyn Beardsley for “Rebozo”; Phoebe Cowger for “Concussion”; Bethany Wicevic for “Everybody Needs A Partner”; Kasey Cruse for “Ladylike”; Alexander Coots for “Sketchy”; Catherine Dudley for “Blinding Lights”; and Nevaeh Osborn for “Summer Days.”
The show continues through the end of April at the gallery, located at 119 W. State St. Visitors can vote for their favorite piece to help determine the show’s People’s Choice Award. A $100 award will be presented to the winner.
South Madison Community Foundation sporsored the first place and People’s Choice awards, while Tri Kappa sponsored the second- and third-place awards.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.
