New Pet Wellness Clinics location opens in Ingalls

INDIANAPOLIS — Pet Wellness Clinics, an Indianapolis-based veterinary company, opened a new location in Ingalls recently.

“We draw a lot (of customers) from this area,” Dr. Michael Graves, CEO and owner of Pet Wellness Clinics, said on Friday, explaining the rationale for new location. “We’re kind of in a hole where there needed to be a clinic.”

The company now has 10 locations, including Binford, Bridgeview, Geist, Noblesville, Zionsville and other areas.

The Ingalls location is at 8015 S. State Road 13, near I-69

Graves, said he created the Pet Wellness Clinics company to provide “quality service and a quick time frame at a reasonable price.”

He has worked in veterinary services for 40 years and and he said it’s something he loves to do.

“You get to be a doctor and you get to work with animals all day, it’s the best of both worlds,” he said, adding that he also gets to work with people.

The clinics offer complete veterinary care, including vaccinations, dental cleanings, digital X-rays and surgical suite.

One of the company’s “core philosophies,” Graves said, is getting patients in the same day they call.

Dr. Lisa Ellers, lead veterinarian at the Ingalls location, said same day scheduling is one the best things about working at Pet Wellness Clinics. She said they are able to do that because of how many locations they have.

“That’s a big thing for us, because if you’re concerned about your pet, we’re concerned,” Ellers said.

Even if it’s just a torn toenail, she said, Pet Wellness wants to get that pet in same-day, because if a pet is uncomfortable they “want to help that pet out.”

The clinic also offers Pet Prime, which allows clients to budget pet care. Instead of paying the full sum at once, clients can pay in smaller, monthly increments.

Pet Prime benefits include: unlimited exams including rechecks, technician visits and telemedicine consultations; vaccines and 12 months of heartworm, flea and tick protection; and a discount on dental procedures and spray/neutering, the press release said.

“It’s just a homerun for our clients,” Graves said.

There are 24 doctors throughout Pet Wellness Clinics, and some have specialties, including surgery, internal medicine, working with certain types of animals.

Graves considers this “a big deal,” because many clients expect veteranarians to be able to do everything, he said.

At Pet Wellness Clinics, clients can be referred to other locations with other veteranarians who may better assist with what that animal and client need.

At the Ingalls location, there are two doctors — Ellers and Dr. Kelley Veneskey — who rotate and six technicians on different shifts.

Ellers has worked for Pet Wellness Clinics for three years. She originally became involved with the company when she went to pick up Pizza Hut pizza in Noblesville and saw the clinic there, which she said was “nice and clean.” After checking the website, she said she was impressed with the number of locations.

And, “each of the clinics is equipped with the best technology and equipment,” she said. “So we have a great opportunity just to practice great medicine. We can focus on that, while having a great support staff aid in that.”

In her profession, she said, veterinarians “do good every single day,” for the pets in their care and she believes the human bond with animals is a large part of society.

“Sometimes that pet that that owner is bringing in is the … only thing that has given that person unconditional love at that certain time in life,” Ellers said, “That human-animal bond is amazing and we hopefully help that.”

To celebrate the opening of the Ingalls location, Pet Wellness Clinics is offering new clients a complimentary veterinary exam for their pet.

Ingalls office hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
