Legion offer regular activities

PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, has the following events planned.

• Wing Night is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays (except Thanksgiving), with all-you-can-eat wings costing $12.

• On Fridays, tenderloins are available starting at noon; a Treasure Hunt drawing takes place at 7:30 p.m.

• Every Sunday is Football Sunday, starting at noon. People are invited to wear their team colors.

• The Legion’s general membership meeting is set for 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month.

Gallery 119 offers art classes

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Gallery 119 offers art classes on a regular basis.

The next classes are:

Kids Deco Class “Holiday Fun” — 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, for ages 8 and older. Pam Rowley will lead the making of Christmas ornaments. Participants will pick two from a reindeer, snowman and wreath to create. The cost is $10 per person.

Children’s Art Classes take place on the second Saturday each month. Classes are taught by a varierty of teachers. Each class is independent and will need its own registration.

PAS Juried Art Show — 10th Annual Juried Art Show runs through Dec. 23, sponsored by R&R Engineering Co. The show has several categories: 2-D, 3-D and photography.

Christmas event sale coming up

MARKLEVILLE — The Christmas in Markleville Sale is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at North Christmas Church, 32 State St., Markleville

It is a family-friendly, admission charge-free evemt.

Santa and Mrs. Clause will be present from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Christmas Wishes and photos (people must use their own cameras).

Available lunch options will include chili, chicken and noodles, and hotdogs and toppings.

There will be booths to shop, offering items for sale such as homemade items, crafts, jewelry and Christmas cookies.

Train exhibit planned for December

ANDERSON — Madison County Historical Society Inc. will present a Rail History exhibit fro 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in December at Madison County History Center, located at the corner of 11th and Main streets in downtown Anderson.

There will be photos and memorabilia, operating models, model displays and more.

Visitors will be able to view videos featuring many old time and modern railroads, layouts and more.

The museum will be closed Dec. 26.

Talks will explore county’s history

ANDERSON — Madison County Historical Society Inc. is presenting a series of “First Sunday” presentations covering the History of Madison County, set for 2 p.m. monthly in the Bowman Room at Museum of Madison County History, 11 W. 11th St., Anderson.

Madison County Historian Stephen T. Jackson delivers the presentations, which provide an overview of Madison County’s history through historical highlights of each township.

Presentations will run about an hour each and are free. The public is welcome.

Museum plans Christmas open house

PENDLETON — Pendleton Historical Museum, 299 Falls Park Drive, has scheduled its annual Christmas Open House for 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. Children will be able to visit Santa and Mrs. Claus.

People are invited to take their own photos.

There will be cookies for children to decorate, and popcorn and spiced cider (hot and cold) for all.

Quilt guild plans holiday pitch-in

PENDLETON — The Spring Valley Quilt Guild’s annual Christmas pitch-in is set for the evening of its Dec. 7 meeting.

The gathering will take place at the Mercer Barn across from Fall Creek Christian Church at U.S. 36 and Madison Avenue.

Doors will open at 5:30pm and dinner will begin at 6 p.m.

Chicken and drinks will be provided by the guild.

Members are asked to bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share.

Members are asked to bring a sewing related item to be prizes for the games. Bibs and burp clothes should be turned in for the “From Me to You” project.

The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2023.
