Upgraded security aimed at election integrity

0

As Madison County works tirelessly to ensure the smooth processing of various election candidate declarations, financial reports, absentee applications and ballots, the security of the voting process is always a top priority.

To this end, I am proud to announce the implementation of new and improved policies and procedures to further enhance the security and integrity of our voting process.

The following measures have been put in place:

• Updated security locks for the Election Room have been installed to secure access by authorized personnel only. This will ensure that only authorized personnel can access the Election Room and the voting materials contained therein.

• Visitor Access Log has been implemented as a tracking tool to identify all visitors who enter the Election Room. This will enable the Election Room to keep track of all visitors to the Election Room and ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed access.

Postings to restrict access to the designated area for processing absentee applications and ballots is strictly supervised by Election Director and enforced.

Additionally, a bipartisan team of election workers will process absentee applications and absentee ballots in accordance with applicable Indiana law.

This will ensure that absentee ballots are processed in a fair and impartial manner, and that the voting process remains secure and transparent.

Madison County is committed to ensuring that the voting process remains secure and transparent, and these measures are a testament to that commitment.

By implementing these new policies and procedures, the county is demonstrating its commitment to the voters and to the integrity of our democratic process.

I encourage all voters to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections, secure in the knowledge that their votes will be counted fairly and impartially.

Sincerely,

Linda S. Smith

Madison County Clerk of the Circuit Courts
