Legion plans activities

PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, plans the following events — open to members and non-members:

Regular events include:

All-you-can-eat wing night is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Thursdays, with all-you-can-eat wings costing $12

Lunch specials (as well as regular menu) — starting at 11 a.m. weekdays

Treasure Hunt drawing takes place at 7:30 p.m. Fridays

Pool on Sunday — beginning at noon, no charge

People interested in playing on a tournament euchre team or pool team should call or stop by the post and talk to Dave or Haley.

The Legion’s general membership meeting is set for 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month.

Public is welcome. Facility is smoke-free.

Christmas in Markleville Saturday

MARKLEVILLE — Markleville annual holiday celebration is planned for this weekend.

Christmas in Markleville is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at North Christian Church, 32 State St., Markleville.

There is no admission charge for this family-friendly event.

There will be booth sales, lunch available and a chance to visit Santa.

A free-will offering will be accepted for lunch, which will include chili. chicken and noodles and hot dogs with toppings.

Santa will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be door prizes every half hour.

Museum Christmas event coming up

PENDLETON — Pendleton Historical Museum’s Christmas Open House is set for 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.

People are invited to the museum for fresh-popped corn and hot apple cider.

The Silver Strummers dulcimer players will perform.

Children will be able to decorate items to take home and place on a Christmas tree, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to hear all Christmas wishes.

Vaccination clinic coming up

INGALLS — Town of Ingalls and Indiana Department of Health are planning a free flu and COVID vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at town hall 308 N. Meridian St., Ingalls

Vaccinations are limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ingalls plans holiday celebration

INGALLS — Town of Ingalls Holiday Event is set for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at town hall, 308 N. Meridian St., Ingalls.

Santa will be present, and people will be able to take photos with him using their own cameras. There will also be an elf and reindeer, as well as hot chocolate and candy canes.

The Ingalls Police Department will be giving away winter clothing and toys to children in need through their Cops 4 Kids Program.

Town hall also will be accepting donations from those who would like to give.

Wreaths to adorn veterans’ graves

PENDLETON — Daughters of the American Revolution Kikthawenund Chapter will place wreaths on about 200 veterans’ graves at Grove Lawn Cemetery on National Wreaths Across America Day, Dec. 16.

Wreaths will be placed at about 9 a.m. following a brief ceremony by military personnel and the playing of taps.

The event is open to the public.

There are more than 450 veterans buried in Grove Lawn Cemetery.

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s year-‘round mission – Remember, Honor, Teach – is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as at more than 4,000 participating locations in all 50 states and overseas. PAS offers show, classes coming up

PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s 11th Annual Juried Show is on display through Dec. 23 at Gallery 119 in Pendleton.

PAS also plans the following art classes:

• Saturday Deco Clay/Stemmed Sunflower Class with Pam Rowley — 9:30 to 11 a.m. Nov. 18. Participants will make two stemmed sunflowers using deco clay. Cost: $15.

• Paint Bob Ross Style with Andy and Stephanie — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 18. Instructors will teach the Bob Ross style of painting. Cost is $50 with all supplies included.

• Deco Clay/Poinsettia with Pam Rowley — 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 28 and/or Nov. 29. Participants in each class will make two poinsettias using deco clay. Cost is $15 each class.

• Art with Chicqiela Elbert-Velazco — 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 2. Students ages 8-12 will be able to experiment with embossing, drawing and painting techniques to transfer images on various papers using a Richeson printing press. Cost: $10.

• Intro to Printing with a Press with Chicqiela Elbert-Velazco — 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. Students ages 12 to adult will be able to experiment with mono-printing and dry point techniques to transfer images on various papers using a Richeson printing press. Cost: $30.

Kids Class

Children’s Art Classes take place on the second Saturday each month. Each class is independent and will need its own registration.
