Town council approves appointments to boards and commissions

PENDLETON — Pendleton Town Council met Thursday, Jan. 11, and approved appointments and re-appointments to town boards, commissions and other groups.
The following is a list of those groups and their members. Appointments and reappointments approved last week are in italics.
Board of Zoning Appeals
Hears and decides requests for variances from the standards identified in the Unified Development Ordinance; hears and makes final decisions on conditional use requests; and makes the final decision concerning appeals regarding administrative decisions. Consists of five members appointed to four-year terms by either the town council or town council president. Meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at Town Hall.

Plan Commission
Reviews subdivisions of land, site development plans, and planned unit developments, in addition to initiating amendments to the zoning code and map. The commission consists of seven members appointed to four-year terms by the town council. Meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at Town Hall.

Historic Preservation Commission
Establishes historic districts and reviews certificates of appropriateness for development and alterations within the downtown business district. Consists of six members appointed to three-year terms, five by the town council president and one (non-voting) by Historic Fall Creek, Pendleton Settlement. Meets at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Town Hall.

Parks and Recreation Board
Exercises general supervision and makes the rules of the parks department. The board prepares and submits an annual budget to the town council, makes recommendations and an annual report to the town council concerning the operation of the board and status of park and recreation programs in the district. The board consists of seven members appointed to four-year terms by the town council, Pendleton Community Public Library board, South Madison Community School Corp. board, and Madison County Circuit Court judge. Meets at 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Falls Park office, 460 Falls Park Drive.

Waterworks Board

Utility Rate Advisory Board

Redevelopment Commission

Economic Development Commission
Meets regarding financing for certain economic development and pollution control facilities as required by Indiana law. Terms run from Feb. 1 after their original appointment, for a period of: three years if selected by the town council president, two years if nominated by the town council and one year if nominated by Madison County Council. Meetings take place at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month on an as-needed basis.

Urban Forestry Committee

Impact Fee Review Board
