PENDLETON — In the end, organizers of Community Easter Eggstravaganza in Falls Park didn’t need their in-case-of-rain plans, as the sun shone through the clouds onto hundreds of people who came out for the event on Saturday.
“I’m probably the one that got the most,” a taciturn Asher Godbey, 8, finally blurted out after furiously opening the cache of eggs he’d gathered during the first- and second-grade hunt.
The event was organized by Catalyst Church, which had a cadre of volunteers helping run things, including several age-group egg drops, a petting zoo area, a games area, visits with Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny.

The event’s activities situated next to the park’s playground created a sprawling area for children and adults to have a great, safe time.
Eli Williams, 11, was taking no chances with his little brother, Judah, 2.
Eli shadowed Judah throughout the field of the toddler egg drop, often holding a protective arm around him and sometimes picking up an egg to toss into his basket.
“I was just making sure nobody squished him,” Eli said afterward.
Gavin and Emma Humfleet of Muncie were enjoying their time with son Eversyn, 1, taking pictures at the gazebo with Mr. and Mrs. Bunny.
Gavin, a Pendleton Heights graduate, said his family came to town on Saturday for the Easter event.
He said he loves what Pendleton has done through the years to establish events that bring the community together.
“It’s awesome to see,” he said.
Some of those other events are just around the corner, with the farmers market set to start May 4, June Jamboree to open a month after that and more.
