Gallery offers art classes
PENDLETON — Gallery 119 in Pendleton offers a variety of art classes for children and adults.
The gallery is located at 119 W. State St.
Children’s class
A children’s art class takes place on the second Saturday each month. Each class needs its own registration.
Register for classes at the gallery, or by phone at 765-778-0986, during regular business hours; or online at PASgallery119.org/events.
The gallery’s regular hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
Spring Art Show begins Friday
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society’s Spring Art Show is set for May 3 through June 5.
It begins during May’s First Friday event, where judge Cameron Kotterman will determine first- through third-place winners. Those attending the event, which runs from 6 to 8 p.m., will be able to vote on the People’s Choice Award. Cash prizes range from $20 to $70.
American Legion plans activities
PENDLETON — American Legion Post 117, 611 W. State St., Pendleton, plans the following events — open to members and non-members:
Regular events:
All-you-can-eat wings — 5-8 p.m. Thursdays for $15 (or $2 each).
Lunch specials (as well as regular menu) — starting at 11 a.m. weekdays
Treasure Hunt drawing — 7:30 p.m. Fridays
Pool on Sunday — noon to 8 p.m., no charge
People interested in playing on a tournament euchre team or pool team should call or stop by the post and talk to Dave or Haley.
The Legion’s general membership meeting is 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday each month. Public is welcome.

Highway 38 Sale takes place May 3-4
PENDLETON — The annual Highway 38 Sale — which features rummage sales along the route and on nearby side streets — is set for Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4.
The sale route stretches from Noblesville to New Castle, passing through Pendleton.
The local event sponsor is Pendleton Lions Club. There will be vendors set up along North Pendleton Avenue between State and Water streets.
Farmers market season to start
PENDLETON — Pendleton Indiana Farmers Market will open for the season Saturday, May 4, in Falls Park.
The market takes place between the main entrance and John Street. Hours are 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays through September.
Plant, bake sale set for May 4
PENDLETON — The Pendleton Garden Club Annual Spring Plant and Bake Sale is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, next to the Community Building in Falls Park.
Besides plants and baked goods, there will be miscellaneous rummage items.
Church’s Abundance Meal coming May 8
MARKLEVILLE — The next East Christian Church Abundance Meal is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, downstairs in the church, 124 E. Main St., Markleville.
The meal includes chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, rolls and dessert.
A free-will offering will be accepted.
Health fair planned for mid-June
PENDLETON — Madison County Health Fair is set for 3-7 p.m. Friday, June 14, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Community Sports and Wellness, 395 S. Heritage Way, Pendleton.
The fair will include screenings, classes and information, including basic health screenings, CPR class, cooking demos/class, and diabetes and weight loss resources.
There will also be a variety of family activities, including open-play gymnastics, children’s bike course, and tennis and pickleball demos.

WEEM Radio Camp takes place in June
PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights WEEM Radio Camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon June 17-20 at the high school.
The cost is $75 for K-12.
Registration is open, and signup form must be submitted by May 18.

Kids Art Camp starts July 8
PENDLETON — Pendleton Artists Society is taking reservations for Kids Art Camp 2024 at Gallery 119.
The theme this year is “Spread Your Wings With Art.”
The July 8-12 camp is for children ages 6-12 and youths 12 years and up.
Art is age-appropriate and taught by various artists during the week.
Children will display their artwork at the Friday Night Art Show, from 6-8 p.m. July 12 at Gallery 119.
Children may sign up for morning or afternoon sessions.
Sessions:
9-11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday (ages 6-12 years)
12:30-3 p.m. Monday-Friday (ages 6-12 years)
Evening: 5-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday (ages 12 and up)
Cost for the camp is $60 a child/$50 for a second child in the same family.

Public Safety Day set for May 19
LAPEL — Lapel Stony Creek Township Fire Territory Public Safety Day is set for noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 19. Station 70 is located at 8871 W. County Road 200S, Lapel.
Donors can join Open Hearts, Open Purses
PENDLETON — Open Hearts, Open Purses (OHOP) — South Madison Community Foundation’s women’s giving circle — is open for new members.
It costs $100 to be a member. The first 100 donations fund a $10,000 grant for one community organization.
Additional donations are split between two other organizations.
On June 13, members will hear the three finalists present their case for the $10,000 grant. Members vote to determine the winner.
A junior OHOP program is in place for members 18 and younger for a $25 donation. Junior members vote separately for who receives their combined donations.

Town seeks surveys on revitalization plan
PENDLETON —The Town of Pendleton is in the early stages of submitting a planning grant application to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to develop a new Downtown Revitalization Plan.
Planning grants are funded with Federal Community Development Block Grant dollars from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The program aims to encourage communities to plan for long-term holistic community development.
