Pendleton Heights Top 10%, Take 3

PENDLETON — Pendleton Heights High school recognizes the Top 10% of the year’s graduating class.

There are 33 students in that group for the Class of 2024.

The countdown started May 2 continues this week with Nos. 17 through 10.

It will continue through several editions of The Times-Post.

17. Isaac Haugh

Isaac Haugh

Isaac Haugh is currently ranked 17th with a grade-point average) GPA of 12.3571. He is the son of Katy and Nate Haugh. He has participated in baseball, tennis, Beta Club, student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Best Buddies, Outdoor Adventure, Spanish Club, National Honor Society (NHS) and Unified Track. He plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University to study biology and tennis. He hopes to become a physical therapist.

 

16. Damon Laughlin

Damon Laughlin

Damon Laughlin is currently ranked 16th with a GPA of 12.3585. He is the son of Cathy Morris. He plans to attend Ball State University to study nursing. He hopes to become a registered nurse.

 

 

 

15. Kayson Howard

Kayson Howard

Kayson Howard is currently ranked 15th with a GPA of 12.3878. She is the daughter of Jill Alfrey and Jason Howard. She participated in Beta Club, NHS, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Spanish Club, Spanish National Honor Society, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, and student council. After graduating, she plans to attend Purdue University. She will be going to school to obtain her master’s degree in speech, language, and hearing sciences on a pre-speech pathology path. She hopes to become a speech pathologist within this field. She hopes this will allow her to be involved in the lives of both adults and children who find themselves to have struggles or impediments with their speaking.

14. Ellie Ray

Ellie Ray

Ellie Ray is currently ranked 14th with a GPA of 12.3958. She is the daughter of Andria and Brandon Ray. Ellie has participated in swimming and diving, Pendleton Swim Club, NHS and Beta Club. She plans to attend Indiana State University to study elementary education and Spanish. Her hope is to be an upper elementary school teacher (ideally grades 3-5) and possibly an elementary school principal one day.

 

13. Caden Sims

Caden Sims

Caden Sims is currently ranked 13th with a GPA of 12.4038. He is the son of Jason and Kim Sims. He participated in student council, NHS, baseball, basketball and football. He plans to attend Wabash or Indiana University for a major in biology. He then would like to continue his education at IU School of Dentistry to become a dentist. He hopes to start his own practice.

 

12. Eddie Lyst

Eddie Lyst

Eddie Lyst is currently ranked 12th with a GPA of 12.56. He is the son of Jim and Mia Lyst. He participated in Pendleton Heights Pendletones and in the theater department. He plans to attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology majoring in software engineering. He hopes to become a software engineer for a motorsports or car manufacturing company.

 

11. Annie Canada

Annie Canada

Annie Canada is currently ranked 11th with a GPA of 12.5714. She is the daughter of Michael and Michelle Canada. She has participated in varsity volleyball for all four years of high school. She was a part of Beta Club, NHS, Spanish National Honor Society and secretary for student council. She plans to attend Indiana University and major in biology. She hopes to attend Indiana University School of Dentistry and become a pediatric dentist.

 

10. Bryant Davis

Bryant Davis

Bryant Davis is currently ranked 10th with a GPA of 12.68. He is the son of Steve and Sara Davis. He has participated in three years of varsity football, five years as the student council president, four years of FCA, two years of National Honor Society, three years of Beta Club, one year of rugby and two years of golf. He plans to attend Wheaton College to major in business and economics and minor in history and English. He hopes to lead marketing for a music supply company.
