Pendleton Heigths tennis defeats Rushville

RUSHVILLE — With a sweep of the doubles matches and another dominating performance from their No. 1 singles player, the Pendleton Heights Arabians won their third-consecutive match of the week.

Senior Sam Hammel improved to 11-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Barbara Hershberger at the No.1 singles spot. Junior Bailey Davis won the first set in a tiebreaker before cruising in the No. 2 singles slot 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 versus Payton Browser. The lone loss for the Arabians came in the No. 3 singles match when sophomore Gracie Criswell dropped a 4-6, 6-2, 6-7 (4-7) decision to Mattison Miller for Rushville.

The Arabians rolled through doubles play with straight-set victories in both matches. Gabby Kramer and Susie Kramer knocked off Gabby Brinson and Ainsley Flattery 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 match, and Brielle Boynton and Claire Goodwin continued their recent run of successes with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Macy Rolfe and Megann Sasher in the No. 2 match.

Pendleton Heights (7-4) will host Heritage Christian Friday.
