ANDERSON — Lapel golfers Kristen Hobbs and Macy Beeson posted strong finishes at the Indiana PGA Women’s Open on July 25 and 26 at Anderson Country Club.
Hobbs, a junior at Lapel High School, shot a two-over-par 74 in the second round, one of the top five scores of the day, to climb into a three-way tie for 13th in the two-day tournament. Combined with a 77 in the first round, Hobbs finished at 151, which was 15 shots off the 136 posted by Anna Appert Lund of Prairie View.
Beeson, a seventh-grader in Lapel, finished in a tie for 50th with a 167. Beeson was consistent over the two days, firing an 84 in the first round before shooting an 83 in the second round.

-Competing in the boys 16-19 age group, Lapel junior Logan McAtee finished 18th after shooting a 10-over-par 82 in the Indiana Golf Foundation junior tour stop Monday, July 24, at Brookwood Golf Club in Ft. Wayne.
-Macy Beeson also competed in the IGF prep tour stop July 27 at Dye Course in Franklin. She placed third in the girls 11-12 age group with a 12-over-par 67, five shots off the score of Michaela Headlee of Brownsburg.
-Lapel third-grader Maverick Beeson competed in the boys’ 8-10 division at Dye and placed sixth after posting an 11-over-par 38. He was 10 shots behind Jake Cesare of Westfield.
