PENDLETON — Organizers of the fifth annual Lucky Duck Race want to remind people — including those who have purchased participating ducks the past few months — of the event set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in Falls Park.

The race is an annual fundraiser by the Friends of the Pendleton Community Library.

With the support of the community, the Friends have set a new record with more than 50 sponsors and 575 ducks racing this year.

Funds generated will support several events and activities at the library, including Holiday Open House, Gingerbread Contest, Morning with Mommy, Donuts with Daddy, and children’s, teen and adult summer reading programs.

Lucky Duck Race-related activities begin at 1:30 p.m., when the finish line party begins.

• DJ Push Play kicks off Finish Line Party with music, along with event announcements.

• Hamilton County Sidewalk Art Champion Annabelle Johnson will play host to Sidewalk Chalk Art; children will be invited to draw with chalk on the sidewalks.

• Temp Ducky Tattoo Booth — people will be able to receive a free temporary duck tattoo, while supplies last.

• Chuck-a-Duck and bean bag toss games are set up for people to play and pass the time while the ducks are racing down stream.

• VIP seating is available near the finish line for Gold Level sponsors.

• The Academy of Model Aeronautics will fly model airplanes and drones in the field near the start of the race (open field near old ball fields)
