PENDLETON — The Pendleton Heights High School girls soccer team started the week out right, downing Delta High School 10-1 Monday, Sept. 10.

The victory upped their record to 5-3-1 overall, 2-1 in Hoosier Heritage Conference play.

Scoring went as follow: Helena Talbot (3), Anna Childers (2), Megan Mills, Macy Browning, Taylor Fort, Claire Fendel and Leonie Wilson. Assists shout-outs go to Megan Mills (2), Taylor Fort (2), Leonie Wilson (2), Riley Schrink, Anna Childers, Claire Fendel and Emma Adams.

“We came out focused and responded well to a tough loss our last time out,” head coach Mark Davy said. “Every team has their growing pains; as long as we continue to learn and grow from our mistakes, we’ll be fine.

“This team is more comfortable and understand what they need to do in order to be successful. Focusing on the details, no matter how big or small, leads to winning soccer.”

The Arabians girls soccer team added a win and a loss to its schedule in play last week.

On Sept. 6, Pendleton Heights visited Park Tudor but left with a 4-3 loss in the match.

Senior Taylor Fort scored for the Arabians, as did senior Claire Fendel and sophomore Macy Browning.

Freshman goalkeeper Kylea Lloyd had five saves for the night.

Two days earlier, the team picked up its first Hoosier Heritage Conference win of the year in a big way.

The Arabians beat Shelbyville 11-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Pendleton Heights scored seven goals in the first half and added four more in the second half en route to the shutout win.

Scoring for the Arabians were Fort (2), Helena Talbot (2), Maddie Likens, Sarah Dix, Anna Childers, Fendel, Lexi Hill, Jayden Brown and Megan Mills. Assists were handed out from Talbot (2), Hill (2), Likens, Childers, Fort, Brown and Mills.

The win came after a holiday break, which allowed the team to get some rest and get better.

“We gave the girls four days off, to rest, recover and just get away from the field,” Davy said. “We are finally getting healthy, and the girls are focused on the second half of the season.”

Pendleton Heights defeated Yorktown 8-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

The Arabians play host to conference foe New Castle at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 13, and travel to Westfield on Sept. 17.

Boys soccer

The Arabians faced non-conference opponent Marion High School on Tuesday, Sept. 4, and came away with a 1-1 tie.

The Giants outpaced the Arabians to get the first goal of the game, but Pendleton Heights answered in the first half when Mason Fridley found his first goal of the season to tie the game at 1.

Neither team was able to get offense going in the second half, and the game ended in a tie.

At Fishers on Sept. 5, the host Tigers shut out the Arabians 3-0.

The Arabians defeated Hoosier Heritage Conference foe Yorktown 2-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and travel to Delta for a 5 p.m. Sept. 13 match-up.
