Boys fall to Delta, pick up win at Shelbyville

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Heights boys swimming and diving team had two meets that ended with the same score, but the Arabians lost to the visiting Delta Eagles 81-102, and won at Shelbyville 102-81.

Facing a team stocked with several competitive Delta swimmers Jan. 10, the Arabians continued their practice of shaving time from their performances.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Trevor Cobb, Cameron Kordes, Evan Fredericks and Pyry Kurunsaari finished in first.

Kordes won the 200 individual medley by more than four seconds versus the second-place finisher and also won the 100 breaststroke by more than three seconds.

Courtney Robbie won the 100 freestyle by overtaking his opponent in the final seconds of the race.

In 1-meter diving, Cayden Sisson took first.

Earlier action

The boys earned a 102-81 win at Shelbyville Jan. 8.

Cobb, Kordes, Fredericks, and Kurunsaari began the evening with a win in the 200 medley relay.

Kordes also won the 200 freestyle, while Courtney finished a close second. Fredericks and Cobb finished one-two in the 200 individual medley. Fredericks won also in the 100 butterfly.

In diving, Sisson and Jonathan Pardue finished second and third, respectively.

Brayden Jones, Oliver Claxon, Cole Robison and Robbie took first in the 200 freestyle relay.

Kordes was first in the 100 breaststroke and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team along with Fredericks, Kurunsaari and Cobb.

Next up for the Arabians is a home meet with Mt. Vernon at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17.
